What is the purpose of a music video?

A music video is a message to the audience, entertain and the main purpose of music videos is to promote artists and promote brands. But it's mainly to promote the track. A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes.

Why do musicians use music videos?

Musicians use music videos to promote their song. Adding to this, they also use them to help

construct the narrative or help to tell the story. this therefore is the easiest way to do so as the audience can easily view it and take it in and then relate it to the song itself.

The purpose of a music video is to:

• sell the song, and invoke a reaction so that the audience remember the song
• to give the audience a better understanding of the song
• to entertain and show off the artists talents
• to sell CDs, DVDs and downloads by creating memorable visuals
• marketing for the purposes of exposure and expansion of the artist's profile.

This will help me understand and make my own music video because I now know what the purpose of them are so I can create one effectively and correctly.
